<br />Being a SAHM on a budget can be challenging at times. A lot of the time I'm on the lookout for a deal. Second hand clothes are the best option right now for our budget, and I don't mean vintage people. I can't see paying $20 for something used at places like Buffalo Exchange just because it's cool. Rather I like to pay less than $1.00 if I can. My friend Misty told me about the Salvation Army in Edgewood and the great sales that they have. So I drove the 28 miles out there a few days ago and wondered the whole time if I was crazy to drive all that way for a thrift store. It turned out to be time well spent. This sweater was one of the many things I got. In fact I got one like this for Kennedy last year. Now I was in a hurry doing my shopping and the deal was that you could fill a brown bag for a dollar (I filled the heck out of two bags) so I looked at the sweater and saw no stains and no major holes, or so I thought. Coming home I saw the ripped sleeve. Had this been full price I would have taken it back of course but for $.30 I knew it would be something I should fix, so I did. One thing about keeping my machine threaded is that I can jump on and fix anything in a jiffy. We had already planned on making the sleeves doubled for Ava so it worked out perfectly. She now has another great warm sweater for the fall and she can't wait. Neither can I:) Looking forward to more deals!

Each square was sewn with 1930's fabric or replica fabric and the quilters are all either my Aunt's or Cousins. I did free motion quilting on this quilt, only having done it one time before and I was not to happy with my first results, this time I can only say that how much I loved the effect. This is a true heirloom that I'm sure I will treasure for years to come.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-20354328932642974332011-04-04T19:33:00.001-07:002011-04-04T19:38:29.509-07:00Fabric Shoppe and a chance for a great giveawayFor those who like fabric you love this blog site http://www.jaybirdquilts.com/2011/04/sponsored-giveaway-featuring-fabric.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+JaybirdQuilts+%28jaybird+quilts%29<br /><br />The blog is Jaybird Quilts and she has a sponsored giveaway right now from the Fabric Shoppe. I loved the colors and the design of this quilt (all done in my head) but the actual quilting part was not good...not good at all:( I had a lot of problems and I know it shows. (This picture also is the best as Shane was in a hurry to take it and it wouldn't stay up the way we had it.) Still Nova loved her quilt and told me I was "the best". I guess you can't get more love than that. I have a small bit to do on the biding but all in all it's done and off my sewing table and more importantly off the list of projects to be done. Now on to my mom's quilt which I have to get done by the 13 to give it to her. All I have left to do is get the backing and quilt it. Sigh I think it's going to be another stresser. <br /><br />Happy Quilting:) See you when I get out from under the pile of projects;)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-66702499250639428202010-11-03T05:03:00.000-07:002010-11-03T05:20:31.081-07:00A repost of one of my favorite quilts<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwiylgx4iCHGF-xZcm8-IecHxGF9vVR_kSlCRy-fJVAYkNQ3vVZF9dy79m_2ccmNOC7PC8kpB4q5yOx-4P5L87-h58BgC-JlcM6dQW9O0Ttz1-lmvipPWbzMXkgyqDTtPYscge5EjRvg/s1600/ava+quilt.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwiylgx4iCHGF-xZcm8-IecHxGF9vVR_kSlCRy-fJVAYkNQ3vVZF9dy79m_2ccmNOC7PC8kpB4q5yOx-4P5L87-h58BgC-JlcM6dQW9O0Ttz1-lmvipPWbzMXkgyqDTtPYscge5EjRvg/s400/ava+quilt.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535297256017930818" /></a><br /><br />I made this crooked blue quilt for my daughter Ava a few years ago. I was drawn to the color and patterns because the brown simply made the blue pop. I had seen a similar quilt pattern on Amanda Jean's Crazy Mom Quilts blog and knew these fabrics would do nicely for the pattern and I think it turned out well. I learned a lot making this quilt. For example the quilting on it took forever. I quilted around each individual square which meant a lot of pulling and tugging under the machine. It took me a long time to finish the quilt because it was overwhelming for a fairly new quilter. I also realized once it was done that it was really not wide enough to be a true full sized bed quilt. All of the negative aside I loved it and so does Ava. The frayed edges softened up and she loves to snuggle under it. I love that the colors are dark and yet it has a brightness to it. I'm sure it will be one I remember forever. <br /> <br /><br />Please check out Amy's Creative Side Blog and the Bloggers Quilt Festival.<br />http://amyscreativeside.com/2010/10/29/bloggers-quilt-festival-fall-2010/Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-70027863825556434952010-10-11T08:33:00.000-07:002010-10-11T08:46:46.437-07:00Busy Bee<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd3PV693ZK52JjqANUHwZEp1dmul5BBGe8FC0j60BvVQ-sbxR5_c67qeA0EKTFo-Bu66hzYN5d3PX3BrliPQzRWpQ31bIMmpxRvUsdYNt0VupZhvPy7rPwBNREQo9n4cQKgHizW8SV3A/s1600/photo+(5).JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd3PV693ZK52JjqANUHwZEp1dmul5BBGe8FC0j60BvVQ-sbxR5_c67qeA0EKTFo-Bu66hzYN5d3PX3BrliPQzRWpQ31bIMmpxRvUsdYNt0VupZhvPy7rPwBNREQo9n4cQKgHizW8SV3A/s400/photo+(5).JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526815446276155378" /></a><br />Wow I can't believe this week has finally ended. It feels like I've been going and going and yet not getting anything done. But in actuality I did only I've forgotten to take pictures to prove it. I finished my second set of squares for a family quilt, (will post soon), finished a quilted wall hanging for my niece, made a horrible quilt top for a friend's daughter, and then made her a new blanket which is pictured in this post. I also made a quilted wall hanging for my aunt the week before but couldn't find the camera in time to take a picture, (was hiding in the Garage). On top of all that we had two b-day parties to go to (one we had here for the little girl who received this blanket), and also a book club meeting. I'm thankful to have this all done because I have a ton of sewing to do before Christmas and still have b-day presents to complete. Never a dull moment.<br /><br />For this quilt I went out of my comfort zone as far as color. (Still working with squares because I'm still trying to get more experience before I move to more complicated patterns) I usually use brown as my solid color but wanted to try to use black this time. I loved these fabrics although I will agree that two of the fabrics are a little too similar to really tell the difference. Still I enjoy this toddler blanket. I hope she does too.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-43408188739979399962010-09-18T11:07:00.000-07:002010-09-18T11:17:28.139-07:00Monkeying on the Square<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg64PedSRGZ-jR4klnU7DkmZ0A17w70vzIpU32Lzndf7cM-d8lx0JRjumeILBCx-s1wgZLpGzki6fMH6ev6mgdxshbCzYUS1TugpT4nwLJItWSVCdkhR3I2VxaLW_hyKIdprVrunJmJqw/s1600/photo+(13).JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg64PedSRGZ-jR4klnU7DkmZ0A17w70vzIpU32Lzndf7cM-d8lx0JRjumeILBCx-s1wgZLpGzki6fMH6ev6mgdxshbCzYUS1TugpT4nwLJItWSVCdkhR3I2VxaLW_hyKIdprVrunJmJqw/s400/photo+(13).JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518319314637953442" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5dM_KfGqeVNXK0ZZMsWkZH1GwQ-IqMkBcMH0S_Q_JzmK3ucmDjUSNy8YLKLiu5KHDTCEeF4nzpceIIeZozl3svZTLyYwrwbnOtGPNhY7bMWKz3eBa6ODsjjaqbYCeOYUZkP-WvAUZnA/s1600/photo+(14).JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5dM_KfGqeVNXK0ZZMsWkZH1GwQ-IqMkBcMH0S_Q_JzmK3ucmDjUSNy8YLKLiu5KHDTCEeF4nzpceIIeZozl3svZTLyYwrwbnOtGPNhY7bMWKz3eBa6ODsjjaqbYCeOYUZkP-WvAUZnA/s400/photo+(14).JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518319304935065490" /></a><br />Just finished this baby quilt for my son, Riot. He's two months old and has had a monkey theme going since being born. Most of his clothing has had a monkey or two on it, and we call him monkey sometimes. My Aunts also made him an adorable quilt with a Curious George theme not knowing about the monkey theme. I had bought this material a week or two ago from Joann's and had the top done within a short amount of time. I wanted to have a small rag top texture like I did for Ava's blue quilt and within the next few washes I'm sure it will turn out very cute. I'm pretty happy with this blanket, my squares actually lined up and were almost all the same size. That's a big deal for me. I have one blanket left to make for my daughter Nova and then will have made all the kids a blanket with a square theme. Looking forward to picking out her fabric:)<br /><br />Had to share a picture of my gorgeous boy!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-70861931870603358302010-09-17T09:22:00.000-07:002010-09-17T09:29:27.897-07:00Sew cute!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9SDmg-BZwR_Q6H9cqZMUBAoVl_isFcPiACYOfQswqt6IGh7s94WJPUL8dl3SHwLtGRM6joc1yIO5ljtxOD6zAPAR8Pt87vqP54GVqGG2-jpPIqsJTGds_uB8fYqCPae1I__KnwPhng/s1600/Mobile+Photo+Sep+17,+2010+7+55+30+AM.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9SDmg-BZwR_Q6H9cqZMUBAoVl_isFcPiACYOfQswqt6IGh7s94WJPUL8dl3SHwLtGRM6joc1yIO5ljtxOD6zAPAR8Pt87vqP54GVqGG2-jpPIqsJTGds_uB8fYqCPae1I__KnwPhng/s400/Mobile+Photo+Sep+17,+2010+7+55+30+AM.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5517920417278151234" /></a><br />I spent most of the morning yesterday working on this project. April had kindly given me the car seat Jakob had used and while it was in nice condition I had planned to sew a new cover for it eventually. A few days ago I found this adorable Dinosaur material at Joann's on sale and I loved it. Of course it took me a few days to get the time to sew it and yesterday I made the time. I love it and think I did a pretty decent job for doing it on the fly and in between taking care of Riot and Nova. I did mess up here and there and accidently cut of the elastic that hold the bottom down but for the most part it turned out ok. Also I didn't have a neck rest so I made a matching one out of a baby toy I had that the kids never liked. Very happy with the end results. Now to finish his blanket:)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-61535660020103914542010-09-04T21:23:00.000-07:002010-09-04T21:29:06.584-07:00Ahh you got to love it!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgDcaWrYvztKf0PEXTG8qIXAgdqnirtF7MUkzxjvutb9BBhrDi0c7xXugHLk1ZXKyqNcepWGYMyFmpdi8Eza9JU_1D4nWZNtLK7TAliAC3jX5YCCuKyD7IFDfyKgwI0_dpAXEUSSB5Kw/s1600/kdk_0470+(2).jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgDcaWrYvztKf0PEXTG8qIXAgdqnirtF7MUkzxjvutb9BBhrDi0c7xXugHLk1ZXKyqNcepWGYMyFmpdi8Eza9JU_1D4nWZNtLK7TAliAC3jX5YCCuKyD7IFDfyKgwI0_dpAXEUSSB5Kw/s400/kdk_0470+(2).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5513281741863344866" /></a><br />I had to share this picture my friend sent to me of her sweet little boy. The blanket he is wrapped up in is one I made him this past summer. He is the sweetest boy and knowing he is sleeping in something I made for him makes me very happy! It's nice to see someone enjoy any gift but especially one that you made for them. Not that I didn't want to have one ready I just ran out of time to do it all in. I finally decided on the material this past weekend and took the time to cut it on Sunday. I'm excited to make the it and am keeping the pattern simple as to have time to finish it before Sept. 11. That is the goal at least. I call him my little monkey so I think the fabric is appropriate. He is so cute and monkey like. I'm loving having a son, (at least having one as sweet as he) He's a keeper!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-75635242107929929022010-08-12T21:23:00.000-07:002010-08-12T21:28:09.410-07:00A sweet blanket for a sweet boy.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOFBMGGesq6prEytpnq3kP0kXPUJ7SL0jW6DVyAsNNcJw1h5rWS8gNAsPBMT_S61WH9aSZPBHqabe6t7zmp7hvYIEYgYupQsqv2qFU_m5SbIBq0AUfu_sZoqbl5EFr5IV6gNx9SfAaPA/s1600/photo+(6).JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOFBMGGesq6prEytpnq3kP0kXPUJ7SL0jW6DVyAsNNcJw1h5rWS8gNAsPBMT_S61WH9aSZPBHqabe6t7zmp7hvYIEYgYupQsqv2qFU_m5SbIBq0AUfu_sZoqbl5EFr5IV6gNx9SfAaPA/s320/photo+(6).JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504746541605398210" /></a><br />I finally finished this small baby blanket for my friend Laurie's son, Alexander. He is a sweet boy who has the greatest baby laugh. I started to work on it in March, before he was born in April, but my machine started to act up. Then we moved and next thing I know it's July and I still hadn't finished it. Thankfully it matches she bedroom set. It's a little crooked like all my quilts are but made with love. Who can go wrong with Classic Winnie the Pooh? Also the picture is not great but it will have to do. Now on to all the squares I'm doing for a family square swap!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-37211649274381497652009-11-11T05:41:00.000-08:002010-08-12T21:28:47.379-07:00A crooked quilt of blueI saw this pattern earlier this year on Amanda Jeans blog "Crazy Mom Quilts" and I loved the simplicity<br />of sewing squares upon squares and frayed edges. I found this brown and blue coordinating material at<br />Hobby Lobby and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">immediately</span> knew it would be perfect for Ava. Sewing the top was very easy and fun<br />but the quilting was more of a challenge. Not because it was mentally hard but it meant a lot of pivoting<br />under the machine. It took a lot longer to do but well worth the wait. This picture is not great, you can't<br />see the cuteness of the frayed edges and the crumpled look of it. If I ever get a machine with a longer<br />neck I would love to make this again but not until then. Now on to the next.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEign5jy_45v8GgfMR3z_ae4yThbGf2DNvDrFBVSsNg2TeYnc7FviLr33nAVH50rAspbNQsDeXw9TP7Lh7LFDWJ_BILonnGc6K8Kp90d8qzUF60yOUofg1OPMpIvotRkCvzWuBXsh9R6SQ/s1600-h/IMG_0828.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; FLOAT: right; CLEAR: both" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEign5jy_45v8GgfMR3z_ae4yThbGf2DNvDrFBVSsNg2TeYnc7FviLr33nAVH50rAspbNQsDeXw9TP7Lh7LFDWJ_BILonnGc6K8Kp90d8qzUF60yOUofg1OPMpIvotRkCvzWuBXsh9R6SQ/s320/IMG_0828.JPG" /></a><div style="clear:both; text-align:RIGHT"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" alt="Posted by Picasa" style="border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-47523521323676523852009-06-01T10:05:00.000-07:002009-06-01T10:19:41.095-07:00Sewing Machine Interview for Sew Mama Sew<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: rgb(102, 51, 0); font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px; "><p style="margin-top: 15px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; color: rgb(102, 51, 0); ">What brand and model do you have? </em><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;">Brother </span><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;">XR</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;">7700</span></em></p><p style="margin-top: 15px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; color: rgb(102, 51, 0); ">How long have you had it? </em><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;">For a little over a year.</span></em></p><p style="margin-top: 15px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; color: rgb(102, 51, 0); ">How much does that machine cost (approximately)? </em><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;">$119.00 from Costco</span></em></p><p style="margin-top: 15px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; color: rgb(102, 51, 0); ">What types of things do you sew (i.e. quilting, clothing, handbags, home <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">dec</span> projects, etc.)? </em><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;">Quilts, basket linings, </span><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;">girly</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#330099;"> things, anything !</span></em></p><p style="margin-top: 15px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><em style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; color: rgb(102, 51, 0); ">How much do you sew? The idea for this quilt is from one done by Amanda Jean at <a href="http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-make-ragged-squares-quilt.html">http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-make-ragged-squares-quilt.html</a>. It looks a little messy with the strings but once it's done and washed it should be a very cute quilt. I like the extra weight it has, it will be nice during the winter. The goal is to finish this weekend so I can work on another quilt inspired by Amanda Jean using blocks made of 9 patches. I cut 180 + patches last night and need to get another 135 done today so I can have enough to make 35 squares, one for every year that have been married! So much to do and so little time.<div style='clear:both; text-align:LEFT'><a href='http://picasa.google.com/blogger/' target='ext'><img src='http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif' alt='Posted by Picasa' style='border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;' align='middle' border='0' /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-39766619976907248152009-05-27T17:22:00.000-07:002009-05-27T17:26:58.101-07:00Being Inspired<div style="clear:both; text-align:RIGHT"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" alt="Posted by Picasa" style="border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguTxwuSDHeFQnGcr2IyL2RWGDY5hFSIdnf4k7j5iWBxZOk6-gGmvwGgrKf6mjcnD1nGIX9wl8M2rZm5w4V0Cm4Uua4MySs7PF4h9Pmsi4hJUzCjuLXQi51kO9Z7Qv5OlL0NOxKsvQK3A/s1600-h/insidenotebook.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguTxwuSDHeFQnGcr2IyL2RWGDY5hFSIdnf4k7j5iWBxZOk6-gGmvwGgrKf6mjcnD1nGIX9wl8M2rZm5w4V0Cm4Uua4MySs7PF4h9Pmsi4hJUzCjuLXQi51kO9Z7Qv5OlL0NOxKsvQK3A/s320/insidenotebook.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340664510292962834" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSLWUIySarWxl7QAuRL3JJh6VsfQDaOmifdv9p5sV5JBYuVrPfEOq6Ydaef0iCpUh8hcPck-AWaJuEyB8j0qKg7HN9kgqRxEsHBT6Jmuqja5nYg6w_OhEKIseKB-EUSWVU0RRBFlC72Q/s1600-h/IMG_0659.JPG"><img style="CLEAR: both; FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSLWUIySarWxl7QAuRL3JJh6VsfQDaOmifdv9p5sV5JBYuVrPfEOq6Ydaef0iCpUh8hcPck-AWaJuEyB8j0qKg7HN9kgqRxEsHBT6Jmuqja5nYg6w_OhEKIseKB-EUSWVU0RRBFlC72Q/s320/IMG_0659.JPG" border="0" /></a> After looking at the many many giveaways listed on Sew, Mama, Sew I became inspired to create a project of my own and avoid the beast (Ava's blanket) which I need to finish basting. I used this project to try out free motion quilting but found it to be hard and I think I might not be doing something right. Be that at it may I finished it and this is the result. I am excited to use the notebook although not sure when as I have stoped applying for all jobs until the end of summer. I do plan to oneday take a free motion class to get better at it!<div style="clear:both; text-align:RIGHT"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" alt="Posted by Picasa" style="border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-1757035863409819392009-05-22T09:41:00.000-07:002009-05-22T09:44:34.868-07:00Neptune Mini Quilt<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOSpk3sAG9eKK1lqJApG7mt5BXOpQsgbwPY2d4QzXZh6ELDgpF6MK9s5JxSAFU9iFD-PfFHMc-6zospTRUVfmesuMx-NeTOFKw2EJ5u_C5OcmON-WojhOArqAShHkmcWpkNSu2eVfJog/s1600-h/mrsphillipsquilt.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOSpk3sAG9eKK1lqJApG7mt5BXOpQsgbwPY2d4QzXZh6ELDgpF6MK9s5JxSAFU9iFD-PfFHMc-6zospTRUVfmesuMx-NeTOFKw2EJ5u_C5OcmON-WojhOArqAShHkmcWpkNSu2eVfJog/s320/mrsphillipsquilt.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5338689567065351458" /></a>I made this mini quilt using Neptune by Moda and I loved how it came together. I had a few things about it that I didn't like being the thread but i loved the material and the colors. I did decided after it was done never to sew when I am tired. It caused some problems but all in all I like it and hope she does as well. Now to finish the twin size quilt for my oldest girl. I envisioned this quilt to be a little different than what it became but I love it still. My rotary cuts leave much to be desired and they squares became smaller and smaller as I tried to get them to be uniform. As a result I added the white sashes to <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">lengthen</span> the quilt. As with my first this quilt was a learning <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">experience</span> to me and with luck I'll keep improving!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-55574160869182943712009-05-05T12:30:00.000-07:002009-05-05T12:30:03.674-07:00My first quilt<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BLDP7ZVAoLXlp93qBSpAouAQ5kKSLVcn39D1m94tBKPVurldDe0m6ErXx7DJ7R2KxLbUh0Cmp4K-tD0r0hshyphenhyphenIFL6no-P-Aze15MEA6jLa3s3BnhNCBu8QiCqQfJ9_LbEIfvoFqEaQ/s1600-h/Copy+of+photo.jpg"><img style="CLEAR: both; FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BLDP7ZVAoLXlp93qBSpAouAQ5kKSLVcn39D1m94tBKPVurldDe0m6ErXx7DJ7R2KxLbUh0Cmp4K-tD0r0hshyphenhyphenIFL6no-P-Aze15MEA6jLa3s3BnhNCBu8QiCqQfJ9_LbEIfvoFqEaQ/s320/Copy+of+photo.jpg" border="0" /></a> I was given this as a kit called Cake Walk given to me by my Aunt. It was a easy top to make with jelly rolls being used and then the larger triangles cut and sew to the diamond. I was intimidated by the actual quilt part but once I started to sew I realized it was not as hard as I imagined it would be. However the back did have some bad parts to it where the material bunched a little. The front <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">bottom</span> has some puckering as does the top. However I love this quilt because it is my first and the beginning of what I hope will continue a long line of quilts!<div style='clear:both; text-align:LEFT'><a href='http://picasa.google.com/blogger/' target='ext'><img src='http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif' alt='Posted by Picasa' style='border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;' align='middle' border='0' /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3886431881676493569.post-2514954744837318892009-05-05T11:58:00.000-07:002009-05-05T12:05:02.012-07:00Dedicated to quiltingI am so happy to have a place to share my quilts and only my quilts. I have made many baby blankets and a few adult blankets that I have given as presents. I am fascinated in all aspects of quilting, from traditional quilts to art quilts to crazy quilts. My quilts, with the exception of one, are designed purely from thoughts and daydreaming. Patterns and colors inspire me as well as quilts done by others. Never one to truly follow directions or recipes my quilts are never "perfect" or award winners. They are done with love, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">hard work</span>, and caring! I quilt because I love to sew!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
